Auto-Twitter
Even I can't keep up with all this techno-stuff that flies around that inter-web thingy...I've heard Twitter mentioned so many times in the past week, I figure I better check it out.
I'm not sure if I've grasped it all yet - just another way to keep in touch with friends around the World I suppose. I feel like kind of a, well....'twit' sometimes when I don't grasp the need for all of these social networking sites.
The cool thing I ended up doing with it was integrating it into the websites I program. It was easier than I thought and it helped me see the advantages of Twitter. I can't see myself going to Twitter.com to update my status all the time...I don't even do that with Facebook.
I've got an iPod Touch now (which is amazing) and there's apps on that help get postings out to Twitter but I can't see myself even going to the trouble of launching those apps just to tell someone I'm doing a little-something on my iPod.
But I do like to blog...I don't do a lot when I'm home but I do some here and there. and spreading the word to my friends on these occasional blogs would be nice.
Well...now I can right from my websites. I just set up my Twitter account and then whenever I post something to my site(s), I have the option to send it out to Twitter just by clicking on a checkbox....a short message is posted on Twitter which just drives traffic back to my sites.
That's what it's about to me....traffic to my sites. In this tough economy, you never know where you'll get some biz from.
In a very short time, I now think this is a necessary add-on to any site I do.
